The gorgeous venue of Fawsley Hall gave Annabel & I the most beautiful backdrop for what was a classy, fun and relaxed day. The church capped it off -s et in acres of wild fields complete with roaming sheep, a cool Vicar and bottles of presecco for the guests to imbibe on their walk back to the Hall! After scoffing Jaffa cakes as she got dressed, Thea loved her wedding reception meal before changing into a stunning evening party gown with Indian head-dress – a real head-turner and eye-popper for everyone! We had tons of laughs with the PTP Partybooth, piles of bacon rolls later on and fireworks at the end to seal what was a brilliant fabulous “lush” day!

Years after her wedding, the lovely Avi recommended me to her Dad Philip to get some shots of his private dental practice near Harley Street. And I jumped at the chance to shoot something a bit different – capturing the combination of tradition and innovation of a dental surgery that prides itself on excellent customer service as well as top quality dental care. The dentistry lineage is extraordinary – from Israel to Vivian to Malcom, and his brother Philip, to his daughter Avi.

And this was exactly the case at Monique & Richard’s wedding at the end of March. They are a thoroughly modern couple who both work in marketing, but are very respectful to their own faiths and families. So during their engagement shoot in town, we discussed the intiricate details of their wedding day – from the early start for Monique to get ready to Richard’s entrance at the venue on a white horse, the traditional Punjabi Hindu ceremony, hundreds of guests, to the English civil ceremony and massive evening reception for a total of 480 family & friends, complete with live Bhangra dance show!

The whole day was a sensual riot of colour, love, music, smells and laughter. Our first shots were taken at 06:13 and we finished at 22:45 – so it was a long day but one we enjoyed every minute of! Big shout out to the wonderful team at one of our favourite venues -  Alrewas Hayes, Staffs, as well as the fun video team, DJs and of course my brilliant team of Annabel & Jen who helped me deliver some truly wonderful memories for this wonderful couple.

So I’ve put together a few of my favourite images from 2 recent shoots I did – Josh’s shoot at Chelsea FC (with Bruce Buck as our personal guide!); and James’ shoot at Rye House Karting track. I’ve also put Josh’s musical slideshow below to show some more of his images.

They’re also cool & funky locations – but most of all they’re personal to the boys. That’s how it should be – personal, real and relevant.

Photos taken and edited within 24hrs of getting home, I decided to do something with them, and quickly. I had tons of client work so speed was of the essence. Using Photobox meant I could get these photos up in the house cheaply and quickly. And I thought I’d blog about it as I’m really happy with the results!

First, I chose a selection of my favourite images and had them printed as 6″x4″ photos from £0.05p each. These were framed and hung on the kithcen wall, as you can see above.

Then I selected 3 shots and created a montage image as a case for my iPad mini. This is priced at just over £30 so not cheap. But it feels sturdy, attaches easily and the quality is good. It also gives me a lovely reminder of what the family looks like when I’m out, as I’m so often away from them at meetings, or on shoots!

Finally, I had a selection of the images made as placemats for the dinner table. These are really solid and durable, all sized at 9″x8″ and cost from £15 each.

Not your regular Barmitzvah…. our own son, William – celebrating the biggest weekend of his life. And I didn’t take a single picture. Not only that but we’d never experienced a party like this one – it came off exactly as we had imagined and planned it. But I’m not going to bang on about it – just let the team below take the credit. And the various videos and photos do “the talking”. (BTW – I haven’t “branded” them PTP – yes they were shot by my awesome team – but it’s just too weird to put the PTP logo all over them. #knowwhatImean?

Having covered his rehearsal in Alyth Gardens shul a few days before, it was wonderful to see all the family back home for lunch on Saturday beaming with pride after his masterful performance in the service. A few shots there, then it was off to the party at one of my favourite venues, Sartoria.

What followed was a truly magnificent party, brilliantly DJ’d by Matt with our favourite dancers Benji & Kat, and another Kat on saxophone! We also had the superior graffiti artist, the Urbanist as well as a funky photobooth running all night.

Nina and I had a fantastic time and absolutely loved the mix of some really original music, which I’ve used in Daniel’s musical slideshow. Above are a few of our favourite images from a memorable night!

Last night though was different – approx 350 people swamped the beautiful atrium room and spent considerable time with each exhibitor – PTP had a constant supply of enquiries and conversations from the opening at 6pm until 8pm! The exhibitors included amongst others bespoke calligraphy for wedding stationery (Paul Antonio); jewellery ( Lulu Kachoo ); wedding shoes (Emmy Shoes); couture accessories (Hermione Harbutt); bridal dresses (Sassi Holford); catering (Cinnamon Candy); bridesmaids and ushers outfits (Maids to Measure).

It was great fun, the concept was terrific and was stylishly and professionally delivered by the events team at the venue, headed up by the wonderful Tiffany.

The guys decided to have full facials, manicures and a close wet shave. Throughout they were accompanied by PTP’s Annabel who was able to get some wonderfully intimate images of what was clearly a special time for the groom and his Dad at the start of the wedding day. I think this is a brilliant way for every groom to look as sharp as he can for his wedding day, and take his time to get ready too!

When Kate & Daniel got married at The Savoy in early February they chose Javier – even though his early sketches & ideas were drawn by pencil and sent over using his mobile phone! Just on the strength of what he could envisage and what he wanted to deliver, he was booked to create what – in PTP’s opinion – is the most visually stunning chuppa a couple could wish to get married under. Made of 4 sturdy tree branches, flowers and a white muzzelin roof it really felt that Kate & Daniel, and their families, were witnessing a a traditional ceremony from ages gone by.

In addition to the chuppa , Javier also transformed the reception room at The Savoy into an evergreen wonderland in which guests were able to drink and chat surrounded by candles, flowers and an assortment of trees – all in the most beautiful design. Finally, the main ballroom, which itself had benefitted from a refurbishment recently, was enhanced by stunning table centre floral displays. As Javier explains, his way of working is thoroughly creative, innovative and bespoke to his clients.

And so Kate & Daniel’s wedding fitted this billing comfortably. An effortlessly stylish and thoroughly modern couple, their beautiful day start with an intimate ceremony under a picturesque chuppah at Hampstead Synagogue. Surrounded by family & friends, they declared their love for each other before heading off into town to start the party. And at The Savoy, in the main ballroom, the room was lit and dressed beautifully by Classico Productions whilst the party was kickstarted by the fabulous and funky Gilev Showband.

All night long, guests were treated to outstanding food, wonderful musical entertainment and a cheeky photobooth in the corner! Whilst they were having fun, the photography team from PTP and the video team from Gavsy Media were enjoying every minute, ensuring that as a combined team we worked together to make sure Kate & Daniel’s dream of a day became reality.

Whilst all this was happening, Adam and his Dad Robert took up my idea of having a bit of pampering before the ceremony with a close shave nearby at The Refinery in Brook Street. Annabel got some quirky shots of the guys chilling before the festivitites began! The whole event itself was in the Marriott Grosvenor Square – a stunningly beautiful and contemporary hotel in the heart of London. (A quick mention to the events team at the hotel – by far the most hospitable, friendly and accommodating team we’ve worked with in a long time). We even got a few choice images from Naomi & Adam’s engagement shoot displayed on the huge screen in the hotel lobby to greet guests when they first arrived!

Once the intimate ceremony, highly organised family shots and fun drinks reception had all concluded, the grand ballroom had been turned around for the party, and nearly 300 guests celebrated a wonderful event to the sounds of Pure Orange – a day to remember for a long time.

…and we had snow!

The whole gorgeous weekend was at the Sanctuary Cap Cana in DR, with some truly awesome party party animals – the Saturday night party highlight was everyone dancing – and me photographing! – in the shallow water area at the hotel! The following morning, notwithstanding a few sore heads, Ashley and Bret recreated From Here to Eternity on the beach. Finally at the Sunday lunch I showed a selection of wedding day images on my laptop – always a thrill to show the joy on people’s faces witnessing this stunning event, before they’ve gone home!

Under the Bridge is by some distance the best equipped venue I’ve worked in for this kind of party – the best audio & visual I’ve seen or heard! So it was wonderful for Tom and I to be able to work in such great surroundings – as well as a great family, bunch of friends (including my son William, surreal…!) and the awesome Gilev Show Band providing the musical  entertainment – notwithstanding a brief but powerful appearance by The Wanted on the big screen!

A magical night capped off another great journey from Amy’s portrait shoot in Camden, to her Synagogue rehearsal at Belsize Park Shul, to their lunch after her d’var Torah reading. Natalya is a sweet girl, very composed, mnature and full of respect for her faith, as well as for her parents, grandparents, sisters and community. All the speeches made it clear how much Natalya gives to her community, and how much love she has for her family. So no surprise that everyone stayed on the dance floor the whole night and gave back some real love and attention!

Every step of the way I’ve cherished my time spent with this wonderful couple – they’re smart, funny, good-looking, observant of their Jewish faith and thoroughly modern in their outlook on life. Their engagement shoot in Covent Garden was tons of fun and I couldn’t wait for the big day itself to arrive.

The festivities began at their respective partents’ homes before we were all whisked off in gleamingly beautiful cars to their glorious venue in the centre of London. Danielle calmed herself and awaited Sam’s arrival for the beddeken ceremony whereby the groom has a chance to check one final time that he is marrying the right girl – this custom at Jewish weddings dates back to Biblical times. Then onto the main ballroom for their stunning ceremony, with every element of a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony respected. Danielle circled Sam seven times symbolising that the world was built in seven days and that they are now building their own new world together. Cups of wine were presented by both sets of parents. Finally, Sam smashed a glass under his foot to symbolise that even during rejoicing, all Jews are mindful of the history of the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem, and that they now represent the future of the Jewish people. After a few minutes of peace and quiet in the yichud room, Danielle & Sam emerged to greet guests back in the main ballroom and let the party begin!

Pure Orange were fantastic as always throughout the night mixing Western and Israeli music the whole time, and there was plenty of dancing throughout with or without the mahitsa! Howard Robbins ensured everything ran smoothly. Finally, some fantastic speeches were followed by more dancing and by the end of the night we’d all had an evening to remember. For me, it was a day full of joy, respect, hospitality and love – the real meaning of a true simcha full of mazel.

From a cold wintery engagement shoot in Hyde Park a few months before their wedding, to their gloriously sunny wedding day in January 2010, to now.

And what an adorable family they now have with Rob’s 2 daughters Annabelle and Amber-Rose and their new addition – baby Noah. It was a real honour to be with them at these important milestones in their lives – I love this time together with any family.

Then it was to the Quince restaurant at the Mayfair Hotel for her Friday night dinner and d’var Torah reading. And finally on the Saturday night, a party to remember in the Mayfair’s Danziger Suite!

The outstanding team that made it all happened was organised by our trusted colleagues at Uptown Events, and included a purple chocolate fountain, the sweet sounds of Brett Warren as well as 3 awesome dancers!

You’ll see above a larger than normal selection of images. That’s because I wanted to show that this wasn’t just a 1 night celebration for Natalie and her family. Delivering her d’var Torah on the Friday night was very special and deserved some shots above, as well as those of the party. Finally, in her musical slideshow below there are more stills and video clips than usual – again, she was determined to celebrate her Batmitzvah as comprehensivly as she could. So she did a beautiful candle-lighting ceremony asking various members of her family to come up and help light each candle in turn. Really touching.

The young gent about town had a weekend he’ll never forget – on Saturday a lunch at St James in Bushey after his flawless performance in Shul, followed by a small party at home with music and fireworks – and that was all before we got to the main event on Sunday night!

He’s a lovely fellow, always smiling and feeding off the genuine warmth and love that surrounds him from his Mum & Dad Laura and Steve, and his younger sister Sophie – we’ll be back with the family next year for Sophie’s party. Time to party all over again!

The team of professionals that helped deliver a night to remember was co-ordinated by our chums at Uptown Events – and included candyfloss for everyone, the vocal delicacies of Brett Warren and of course the brillians of the Bradleys behind the DJ desk!

So it’s completely wonderful when someone as brilliantly innovative, creatively daring and professionally respected as James Alexander of Spring Events gives me this feedback the day after Annabel & Marta shot a Batmitzvah party for one of my clients, whilst I was working on the other side of town. James’ feedback says it all -

“I just wanted to drop you a line to congratulate you on achieving something I can only hope I manage to with my own team. The reason I have avidly recommend you as photographer in the past isn’t purely the genius of your art, moreover it is the level of professionalism you deliver that enables me as an event planner to keep my eye on the other elements of a party.

In terms of photography last night for Spring, it was a tale of two cameras. We had 2 jobs – One with a “regular high-street brand” of photographer and one with team PTP.

The feedback from the event managers at our 1st job was simply  “we had to tell them everything, where to be, what to look at, who to photograph and so on” (yikes!)

I was personally at the second job working with Anabel and Marta. They were a pleasure to work with. They were so “on it” that I really didn’t need to speak to them all evening (enabling me to concentrate on what I was doing)  I really felt like I was working with a pair of better looking (female) clones of you! They were literally everywhere, they saw everything and I didn’t need to ask them to be anywhere… they were already there. They got every angle and every shot that I associate with you and PTP. I hand the novelties out, Marta is underneath the falling glowsticks getting the kids grabbing at them, the crowd are about to throw their hands up, Anabel is atop the speaker capturing the whole crowd. That’s not to say they were intrusive, quite the opposite in fact! One of the Paul Toeman features they seem to have cloned is discretion, I barely noticed them.

With event imagery It is all too common these days to find I have to “coach” photographers, tell them that something relevant is going to happen. I find our entertainers are constantly obstructed by photographers that stand in the middle of the stage to get a shot they MUST have (?) and at the end of speeches there are enormous delays as the photographer takes 2 minutes to photograph ever person involved in the speech (A & M did this in split seconds)

Congratulations, I now understand why you so happily can do multiple events. I am, and will be recommending both of them to my clients with my complete confidence.”

Having seen some of my wedding images in the JC, Alison & Charlene came to our old studio in Kentish Town back in October 2011 for our first meeting. This was memorable because both Alison and Charlene knew exactly what they wanted for Charlene’s big day. No faffing, indecision or arguing over details. Brilliant!

The journey started with Charlene & Ben’s engagement shoot in Kenwood – one of my most favourite spots to work. Prior to the shoot we all had a coffee and chatted with Annabel who would be their lead photographer in the evening as I had to be somewhere else. Strange set of circumstances but no need to go into it here! Suffice to say the engagement shoot was great fun and Charlene & Ben made the most of the opportunity to show their love for each other.

And so to the big day! I arrived at Alison’s home to photograph Charlene and her family getting ready, while Sandra photographed Ben and the guys preparing for the day ahead. Notwithstanding some craziness with cabs getting us to the Shul on time, everyone arrived with big smiles on their faces looking forward to seeing this gorgeous couple declare their commitment to each other in front of family & friends. After a beautiful ceremony, the fun began at a nearby hotel with a packed dance floor, hysterical dancing, touching speeches and a chance for Charlene & Ben to escape the crowd for a few minutes to get some stunning images from Annabel in the hotel itself.

All in all, this has been one of the most engaging, involving and wonderful weddings we’ve shot – we’ve all felt part of the team thanks to the hospitality of both families, and the guests on the day. Makes our job so much more pleasurable! Hope you love the photos above, and their musical slideshow below set to the music of their first dance.

Then from their ceremony in July to legalise their wedding, before travelling a few weeks ago to the stunning surroundings of Chateau Soulac near Bergerac France, Sarah & John have been – and continue to be – one of the most wonderfully warm, hospitable, fun and caring couples I know. I loved every minute of being with them and their family & friends, especially during the 3-day celebration weekend in France!

The wedding day itself started for me at nearby hotel where Katherine was getting ready, and for Orphee with the guys at RIBA for an early afternoon tea! The ceremony was held on the staircase inside this gorgeous venue, with a swinging party afterwards in the main room led by my mate Max from Wedding Smashers DJ’s.

the fun started at the Jumeirah Carlton Towers hotel where Zhenya and her sister had stayed the night before. the preparation shots were so easy as they made me feel very welcome. the highlights were definitely watching Zhenya create her own music playlist for the ceremony on her iPod! and the live Skype chat on Zhenya’s laptop with their mum in the Ukraine – by moving the laptop around their Mum was able to “see” Zhenya in her wedding dress! then it was off in the cab to the Connaught Hotel where the ceremony and lunch were to be. I dashed into the bar to meet the groom, and father-to-be, Yoni with his best mate Alex. they looked smart, relaxed and ready for what was about to happen – most importantly they had the rings! the short ceremony was held in a small intimate ante-room and was capped off with champagne all round at the end. then a few shots of the couple and the 4 of them in a few different spots in the hotel, as well as outside, and it was onto lunch. before i knew it, my allotted 2 hours were up and I enjoyed a glass of champers with them before their lunch was served.

I loved being with Zhenya & Yoni even if for such a short time – they’re fun, stylish and wanted to do everything properly. Hopefully we’ll be together again if their plan comes off to host a big wedding party in Israel next year – along with their new baby!

Annabel is off on an astonishing fundraising charity bike ride through Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey raising much needed funds for “Yes to Life“. Whilst Marta is coping with the accolades and pressure of becoming one of the most talked-about and sought-after wedding photographers in her home country of Poland. 2 geniuses contributing to the greater good.

So there you have it. Alone for 10 days. But with the support of the home team of a few new associates, and the ever brilliant and wonderful Gill in the office, and my ever-loving and gorgeous wife Louise running the accounts.

Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. No really, I will. Thanks anyway.

Benji is one of the smartest, most polite, well-mannered and considerate Barmitzvah boys I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. A real gent-to-be, he’s caring to his sisters and loving to his Mum & Dad – and his whole family adore him. And of course they would when they get so much love back in return!

After getting ready at David’s parents’ house in Hampstead, Kim made her way down to one of London’s choicest orthodox synagogues in West Hamsptead. The service was joyful, colourful and full of love – a real honour for me to be under the chuppa with Kim, David, Shir and Eden.

Then it was off to the Mappin Pavilion at London Zoo for the reception. It had been a while since I was last there, so it was lovely to see it transformed for an intimate wedding party. I had recommended that my soul brother and old pal Fil Straughan be booked to do the music and enterainment and as usual he got the tone of the evening spot on – his whole band were brilliant all night.

Every time I look at these shots it is with a smile – one of happy memories and a touching feeling of closeness between the couple and their families. I’ve put up more than I would usually because this is a great way for the whole family to view the photos as a preview. Sincerely hope these shots do justice to the day!

We actually met there a few weeks before for their engagement shoot, so by the time the wedding day came we really knew where we wanted to be for some really special shots. I started off by getting some relaxed shots of Rebecca getting ready in nearby Woburn Inn before heading straight to the magnificent Sculpture Gallery for the chuppah ceremony.

As I was on my own I made sure that I grabbed the best position under the canopy for the bridal party’s long, regal walk up the aisle – giving me plenty of time to get some classic shots! The ceremony was intimate, sensitive and beautiful – setting everyone up for the gorgeous weather that greeted them outside for the drinks reception on the terrace. After lots of fun family group shots, Rebecca had great fun pretending to read in a few shots of her by the car!

Then the evening got off to a flyer with some sumptuous food followed by the sweet sounds of Danny Shine’s Neshama band. I absolutely loved being with both families on their special day – a complete and total treat!

In just 3 months, James and his business partner Brett Warren have pulled together a stunning collection of highly talented professional session musicians into what will be London’s premier event music band – TOTEM. Not just that, but the idea of showcasing the band live in front of an audience of industry experts, party planners, music specialists and potential wedding & party clients was a stroke of genius. This was no Seder night Q&A – this was a massive party in London’s premier nightspot, One Marylebone. Engineered and delivered with a sparkle by Darren & Craig from The Events Factory – with on-cue glow wristbands! – we had a night to remember.

I started with Dan and his family a few months ago photographing them on the South Bank, then at the Synagogue for his rehearsal, followed by a quick lunch after Shul before the party on the Sunday night. And it’s been a true pleasure and privilege to work with such a lovely family – shame there aren’t any more kids ;0)

Sure enough a few weeks later and I’m meeting with Rebecca and Joel and their respective parents, going through the detail of what they all want for the big day. And what became clear very quickly was that this was to be an intimate wedding, and therefore they were only interested in a photographer who had a style and presence that would blend with the guests – not stand out or claim that it was all about him or her. This suited me perfectly – I fell I now have a good sense of when to be assertive at a wedding (note – assertive, not bossy!) and when to disappear. Whilst at all times not compromising the artistic or emotional integrity of my work.

The engagment shoot that I did with Rebecca & Joel last weekend was a perfect chance for the 3 of us to get to know each other better, have a laugh as well as get some lovely shots of this very photogenic couple. And we all made the most of the time we had there to walk around the venue and go through the running order of the day. I did make a conscious effort to concentrate on them and not to shoot too much of the venue – I want to keep that special for their wedding day next month!

A really special young lady – composed, confident and fun with an ever-present smile, Talia and I had a great time mooching around Covent Garden for her portrait shoot. A few of these pictures went down really well with the family so we blew them up and put them around Sartoria, the stunning venue for her Batmitzvah party and one of my favourites.

When I first met Nina & Dan at my studio, I was bowled over by how much fun they are, and how they wanted the wedding to be a proper ceremony. Intimate but with no corners cut. This was going to be the most important day since the birth of their lovely 2 daughters. And they wanted to round off the day with a lunch at the Paradise Bar in Queens Park – a fantastically “shabby chic” venue I know well.

So I was thrilled to get to their house in north London on the morning of their wedding to find everyone pretty much ready to go, except Nina! She was realxed, eating croissants and determined to keep one surprise from Dan – her beautiful classic wedding dress. Dan, his brother Ben and I left early in a wicked VW camper van to get to Burgh House early whilst Nina arrived later with the girls in a pure white Rolls Royce to add even more charm and grace to the day. We were blessed with stunning sunny weather (a distant memory as I write this!) and refined piano sounds from Nina’s work colleague.

The ceremony was short in time, but long with love and some really tender moments and exchanges between everyone in the room. Drinks afterwards were followed by some classic and amusing romantic shots in the garden. Then we were all off to the Paradise – and what a gorgeous place to have a small wedding lunch. I hope the shots in the slideshow above do justice to how wonderfully layered in colour this place is – so much to look at, take in, photograph, enjoy. A visual feast for sure!

Following some great speeches from Nina’s brother Adam, Dan and then Ben, I bid them all fond farewell with a spring in my step – there’s news of a big wedding party later this month to keep the fun going!

Sandra’s background in fashion ( as a model and photographer) has given her an awesome eye and creative touch as a very skilled and experienced photographer. She was my first Associate photographer from 2007-2009 until she and her husband moved over to New York, and at first I worried how I would replace her. With a sparkling personality, wonderfully dry sense of humour and ability to mix with any crowd, I knew that I had been very lucky to have her as my first ever team member. Fortunately, soon after Sandra left I met the fabulous Annabel who filled her shoes and the rest – as you know – is history…..

Sandra runs her own fashion photography and corporate event business and will be seen at various PTP client events throughout this year and next. You can see more of her own fantastic photography here.

Should photographers promote their images on social media or does that invade their clients’ privacy? If the client has loved their event wouldn’t they want to show it off to friends & family? And if everyone gets their images on a CD, what will they do with them when they upgrade their computer to a new generation one which doesnt have a CD-ROM drive?

Parents amass thousands of images of their kids, store them on hard drives but rarely get around to making albums of them. If their house is burgled or has a fire, would they really unplug their computer and run out with the hard drive under their arm? Has anyone acutally showed them how easy it is to make an online album and get it printed for less money than they thought?

Then there’s the issue of putting professional images on Facebook – some people are happy to do this, others not.

What makes us all so different in our attitudes to interacting with images of key events in our lives? I’m fascinated by this whole debate. So fascinated that I’m seriously looking into running a series of informative seminars in town later this year (btw – not about how to take digital photos, that’s separate).

We were recently looking at the work of Vancouver based photographer Dina Goldstein, and had a good chuckle at her brilliant adverts for the PPABC (Professional Photographers Association of British Columbia) which you can see here, and that lead us to do even more research on this delicate subject.

So it’s no surprise that Annabel, Marta and James came out after the party absolutely buzzing – I met them on the pavement outside at midnight having made my way from Joe’s Barmi party where I had been working across town. They couldn’t stop going on about what a great night it had been – effortless planing & execution from our mates at Uptown with an exciting new venue to enjoy and a brilliant party atmosphere the whole time! I was well jel but then I’d just had the same at Coq d’Argent so can’t complain!

As for Michelle & David’s wedding day, it’s easy to see from the photo slideshow above that it was classy, stylish and memorable throughout – from the lovely ceremony at the Sacred Heart Church in Ware to the gorgeous reception at Hanbury Manor. And even a couple of fake firemen suddenly breaking into song helped the evening party go with a swing!

On the day Aizhana, an international concert pianist from Almaty in Kazakhstan, got ready at the Landmark before walking the few hundred yards down to the old Marylebone Town Hall registry office for her civil ceremony with Alexander, a financial services professional from Ukraine. A small group of close friends and family who had all recently arrived in London lapped up the charm and grace of being in such a stunning setting for the wedding.

We were blessed with spring sunshine and made the most of it in nearby Dorset Square before heading back to the Landmark for the drinks reception. The final chapter was in the Empire Room for the wedding breakfast which started with a traditional blessing and short speech given by each parent and Aizhana’s maternal grandmother. I helped put together a slideshow of images the couple had given me of them growing up and their courtship which was shown on a big screen to a great reception! And then armed with a beautiful thank you gift of a bottle of champagne, I later made my way out into the evening to meet up with my wife for our wedding anniversary dinner nearby. A truly special and heart-warming day for everyone!

With the Marathon runners going past Big Ben right below us, we watched Raffles having the best time with his family and friends. There was classic British photobooth fun, engrossing entertainment for all the kids, traditional Israeli music and dancing and sumptuous food throughout!

I’ve put together a few of our favourite shots from the party, which finished off a momentous week for the family, having started with Raffles’ call up at Shul early on Monday morning. And Raffles’ musical slideshow is below.

But this is PTP and we do things differently here. Instead of grubby cash commission payments, we encourage our partners to recommend us so that they get to enjoy our stunning photography and wicked services themselves! “How does it work” I hear you shout? Well, for every job we book because of a partner’s recommendation we “credit” that partner with an hour of our photography. The more jobs they recommend, and that we get booked for, the more hours they earn. Then when they have a need for their own personal photography (parties for their own kids, family portraits, wedding anniversaries etc) they just redeem their “earned hours”. You could call it “JPEG Miles” (geddit?).

The programme launched at the start of April 2012 and I’m already honouring the credits earned by some of my closest partners. Craig from The Events Factory got in early and a few weeks ago I had a fun shoot with Craig, his wife and lovely kids in Camden Town (see slideshow above). And in December 2013 we’ll have a top night with Uptown Events’ Bert and his family when we photograph his own son’s Bar mitzvah.

You see we love lots of people. And lots of people love us. So what goes around, comes around.

How does it work?

We video only the highlights of the event – the best bits of the dancing, drinks reception and all the speeches in full. We then fuse them together with the most powerful still photos. Overlay these with relevant audio (songs and speeches) and you have a powerful documentary-style film of approximately 10-20 minutes in length only. This is not a photo slideshow, nor a video highlights package with a few stills thrown in. It’s a carefully crafted and edited film that you will want to watch again and again.

But what do I actually get?

From a hi-res DVD you will be able to watch the final “Fusion” film (10-20mins), as well as watch all the speeches separately and in full. Multiple copies of the DVD are included. And if you want a cut-down for your iPhone, iPad or laptop (approx 3-5minutes) then let us know and we’ll advise of the additional cost. The “Fusion” film will take approx 3-4 weeks from the date of your event to put together, edit and digitise onto a DVD. And if you want to sync your film onto your phone, we can also provide your “Fusion” film on a memory stick for no extra charge.

How much does this all cost?

As we’ve just started shooting, editing and offering these films to clients (we already have 20 films ordered!) the cost for the final film is an astonishingly good value price of just £1,000 + VAT. Bear in mind that as quality videographers will charge around £1,000 – £1,500, this film is currently very competitively priced for now. The price is likely to rise as demand does – so book now!

this was an extraordinary wedding – the weather jumped into spring, Jennifer looked stunningly classy, the ceremony was held at the UK’s oldest and most prestigious Synagogue in Bevis Marks, and the reception filled the whole of the sumptuous Shoreditch Town Hall. the day was full of tender moments of love, happiness and laughter as 2 families came together, with a generous helping of party-mad friends, to creat a recipe of real togetherness.

That’s why we got our own. But this is PTP and we do things a little differently here. This photobooth is not a pod – no walls, curtains, or awkward tight fit to get a whole family or big group of friends squashed in the photo. This is an open-plan booth that works like a proper studio. Just walk into the booth area, press the button, wait 5 seconds and the shot’s taken. Whether there’s 2 or 12 of you it’s no problem – because there are no walls or curtains on the side.

And yes we’ve got the silly hats, mini-blackboards for chalk messages and you can have your photo as a print or as a large fridge magnet. We’re not doing tacky small bits of plastic with tiny photos stuffed in – it’s not us. We’ve got high standards – so you’ll get a proper 6″x4″ print, or mounted in a fridge magnet of the same size. And the pics will go online – everyone gets a small business card with the website & password details printed on it. We had great fun launching this StudioBooth at the Jewish Living Expo last weekend – so we’re looking forward to taking it to each one of the 17 bookings we’ve already got for it this year!

As for everyone from PTP, we were bursting with pride, straining our voices and lapping up the excitement all day from not only sponsoring but also being a major part of the inaugural Jewish Living Expo at Wembley last Sunday. The whole team that was on our Stand – my wife Louise, Office Manager Gill, preferred videographer James, marketing manager Viv and Spencer from our preferred funk soul band  – were bowled over by the sheer exuberance, noise, interest and number of people that visited us all day! We also had a huge amount of praise for the design of our Stand – big thanks to Richard from Classico for that! And the team of PTP production photographers – Annabel, Marta and Scott – excelled at capturing everything that was going on so that Jewish News can make a special photo souvenir issue that will be on sale very soon. I’ve put together a selection of my favourite shots from the team – just over 100 from nearly 4,000!

I want to say a huge thanks to everyone I’ve mentioned above for their massive hard work, energy, drive, commitment and “joie de vivre” before, during and after the Show. It really did make it all worthwhile. Enjoy the pics!

Then it was on to a big coach to take us all down for a night of proper hard-core partying, with my mates Fil Straughan and the team from Uptown! What a beautiful classy place Sartoria is with its low ceilings, stylish decor and mix of different shaped tables. It was the first time we’d shot there so I was really excited to have the opportunity to be there all night. DJ John mixed the tunes and helped the place feel like a proper club, everyone delivered their speeches with clarity & fun and Benji was his usual brilliant self in getting everyone dancing the whole time!

Oh, and the red feather boas, party hats and stick-on moustaches we brought for the photo booth went down a treat!

The shots here are a mixture but the pre-ceremony & ceremony ones were just Paul (with the ladies) and Annabel’s (with the gents). Marta met us at the Town Hall for the party later on!

From now on, if a potential client asks us to reserve a date more than 18 months away, and we are available, we will hold that date without hesitation. If another potential client then contacts us regarding the same date, the first potential client will have “first refusal” on our services – we will contact them and see if they are ready to commit and pay a booking fee. The exception to this “first refusal” rule is when an existing, returning client contacts us to request the same date for their next child’s party. As a mark of loyalty to them for being loyal to us, the date will automatically be opened, reserved & booked for them. We will advise the other potential clients that the date is still available but within the team of associate photographers only.

We want to be able to help everyone who contacts us, and to shoot everyone’s parties. That’s why we have a team of such talented associate photographers so should always have availability. But as we get busier and bigger I want to be fair to everyone, giving clear priority to those clients who stay with us through the years.

So I was very much a kid in a candy store when we met up last Sunday at the Rinkoffs cafe in Vallance Road for their engagment shoot. I knew we were going to have a blast – and 3 hours later, having shot in their main bakery nearby, in Columbia Road flower market, outside the cafe and back at Ally Pally – I hope this selection of my favourite images shows that we did indeed have a laugh! Their wedding is next month and I can’t wait. Although having eaten a dozen small pastries on the way home after the shoot I think I might seriously watch what I eat on the wedding day!

Anyways….a car picked me up a few hours later from the office and took me to their Westminster studio. I walked in (without any security clearance or check – bizarre) and was immediately drawn to the idea of being in their big studio, lights, make-up – “this is it” I thought. The start of my media career is going to be right here and right now. Alas, I was shown into a small room about the size of a toilet, with 1 chair, a monitor and a couple of rifle mikes. The guy who showed me into the room explained it would be a 4.5 minute interview. I quickly started calculating – “about 6 seconds for each question, allow 20 seconds fo each answer, so that gives me time to answer X questions” etc.

And I knew what I wanted to say – Kodak had been “the Apple of their day” owning the whole process – film, camera, lens, chemicals, developing paper – and had been the inventor of the first digital camera in 1975. But in 1991 just as they were ready to bring it to the mass market they hesitated, worrying that the digital launch would ultimately cannibalise their profitable film market (no kidding). As they paused, Fuji jumped in and the rest is history.

However as I sat there working out my strategy I listened aghast as their reporter did a 4minute trailer about the history of Kodak using all the facts & figures that I had mugged up on. Shit. Quick change of attack ….”um, Kodak, instant, portable, disposable, crappy cameras on wedding tables, amateurs, professionals, amateurs…. got it”. So the interviewer cut to me “LIVE” and I was away…….you can watch the rest by clicking above. Got the “Apple” comment in but still waiting for my new media agent to call……….

Today I am proud to announce that we are living in an age when true photographic talent, artistic genius and technical wizardry can be found in one person. Normally, lesser mortals are gifted one or maybe 2 of these gifts. But Annabel has all 3 in abundance – and I am honoured and chuffed to count her as one of my closest friends, colleagues and the engine that drives forward the artistic boundaries of my business. Since April 2009 Annabel and I have laughed and loved every job we’ve shot, and incessantly pushed the business on when in the Studio or office.

There was loads for the kids to do – from a simulator F1 car, to graffiti sports bags, a virutal football penalty box and a simulator helter-skelter ride!

I’ve had a great time together over the last few weeks celebrating Zak’s mitzvah – from his portrait shoot, to his rehearsal at Shul, then the Friday night dinner before his big day – and then to top it all off his awesome party at The Avenue!

Not sure how best to describe what was such an amazing night – it was like a potent party mix of coffee + Red Bull + ProPlus injected into the heart of the biggest night of his life! Incredible musical and dancing entertainment from the fabulous Laurent Folies show band; superb food from Marc at Taste Events, slick MC’ing from my mate James of Spring Events, funky photobooth fun from the team at PictureBooth. The photo/video team of Annabel and myself, with our mate James, covered every moment as you would expect. But we just couldn’t help ourselves get in there, you know, in the mix, on the dancfloor, wearing the t-shirts, singing along with the Berg family and friends. Brilliant time with brilliant people – love it!

We started at Fran’s parents’ home and then onto St Etheldreda’s Church – this was very special for Fran as she was christened there. Marta had met up with the gents down the road at The Eight Bells pub before walking up the hill for the ceremony.

We all then headed off to Tewin Bury Farm for the reception. It was a gloriously sunny day, with no breeze and Fran & Gareth were more than happy to go off for lots of relaxed shots in the sunshine. The theme of the reception room was very nature-based as Fran & Gareth are currently off on their hooneymoon climbing Kilimanjaro! One of those challenges that is so important to achieve before kids come along!

The whole day & evening was captured by an old colleague Alan – and later in the night, once Marta & I had put up the evening slideshow and set up our outdoor photobooth – with hysterical consequences! – we hit the dance floor, with many a raised beer in hand in celebration of their wonderful day!

On arrival the guests had their photos taken in the funky Photo booth . Everyone was ready for some delicious meals as the food was served by the family-run company . After the drinks reception, accompanied by two amazing dancers, Jamie entered the room! Wayne and his band kept the dancefloor literally rocking (only grass underneath!) whilst ice creams kept everyone cool when they needed it!

The drinks reception started in the golden lit Lower Hall, where piano sounds welcomed the guests. While the adults were enjoying colourful cocktails, Nick – the magician, kept the younger crowd entertained.

After delicious food was served in the Upper Hall everyone gathered back downstairs to listen to the speeches, which included hillarious anecdotes from Joshua’s life as well as a touching poem.

Nobody then expected such a surprise to be waiting for them upstairs… The band, live on the Amadeus Centre stage – that’s when the Beatlemania came back to West London!

The music pumped all night from James and Dan and there were lots of reminders of Alex’s shoot I did in Camden – massive prints all over the walls in the party room!

The evening began with a drinks reception in the bar, whilst Zap and Jonny kept the kids and adults entertained with some astonishing magic tricks. And that was when they weren’t having some awesome tattoos painted on by Andy.

Matt kept the dancefloor pounding all evening once Gabriel’s Mum Lisa, Gabriel and his friends had all given their speeches. What a night – big thanks to Kati for having helped Lisa to plan such an amazing night event!

and we had a right giggle out with his Mum Tiffany in Camden recently. He’s great mates with Alex so it was cool to do separate portrait shoots in Camden, and then see them both partying hard at Alex’s Bar mitzvah last Saturday.

The family shoot in the back garden was bathed in gorgeous sunshine, just a few weeks before the big event. And for the last few months, PTP Productions’ Louise has been helping Toby’s Mum Suzanne plan this extravaganza of a weekend so it’s been a real family affair all round!

On the night, at Kinloss Synagogue where Toby had delivered his portion the day before, the kids were kept entertained with air hockey tables and a giant Scalextric track! After Suzanne welcomed everyone – reminding all her guests just what a special weekend this had been for the whole family – the party was able to start in earnest! But not before the visual impact of what was a completely stunning riot of colour in the main room. Suzanne’s exceptional eye for colour and simple design was on display for all to see and enjoy the minute they walked in the room!

Highlights were of course the speeches from Toby’s father Matthew, his Grandpa, his teacher Daniel, friend Asher – and a gorgeous song specially penned and sung by his sister & brothers! But the music was really a massive highlight – traditional as well as modern Israeli dancing all night to the vibrant entertainment from Eli Tamir and his band.

All in all a very very special evening, for a very very special boy and his family. Mazeltov Toby! Here are a few of my favourites and Toby’s musical slideshow.

The party was at the Synagogue where earlier that day Daniel delivered his portion. So this was extra special for his family to be at the Shul the whole day and evening. Craig sent 2 of his best DJ’s – Alex & Dom – who got the dancefloor rocking all night! And after some classic photobooth PixPod fun all evening, everyone had such a good time helping Dan and his family celebrate his special weekend!

And my colleague Lauren and her beautiful baby girl Ava snapped up the offer of a free 1/2hour shoot in the sun! It was also a thank you to Lauren for recommending us to many of her Pink Truffle clients.

Ava is a gorgeous little girl, very mellow and relaxed, with intelligent eyes and really lovely smile. After a few shots in the Studio, we made the short walk up to the Heath.  A few outfit changes, and some handy blankets, allowed Lauren and I to have lots of fun with her – here are a few of my favourites!

The ceremony was at St Mary”s Church in Bloxham, Jeni was accompanied down the aisle by her brother Anthony and Mark stood at the front with Nelly looking a tad nervous! A lovely ceremony was followed by the traditional sword guard of honour for the bride & groom, then again with all the guests assembled outside the Church for a swift confetti tunnel. It worked a treat – and then off in their open-top car to Crockwell Farm for the reception.

Although the heavens opened when we arrived, umbrellas were speedily put up and everyone was able to huddle in the bar for a drink. I decided to organise the the group shots to be outside as soon as I saw the sun come out in full force, with a deep blue sky everywhere. Then the meal – with nominated guests at each table donning chefs hats to carve the beef for their own table, hysterical speeches and framed prints for the Mums. Their choreographed dance went without a hitch and everyone partied hard late into the night. Fantastic time!

Annabel and I flew out the day before and hooked up again with Anna & Adam, who had their gorgeous baby boy Ben with them. And then spent the evening being part of the Church rehearsal on Thursday evening, followed by dinner with everyone back at the house.

Then the big day came. Annabel and I were out early for a run, determined to max our energy levels in advance of what was going to be a mega celebration! Although the weather was flat before the ceremony, as soon as we all came out of the Church the sky was brilliant blue, the sun was sparkling and everyone was ready to party! A quick mass group shot in front of the Mairie, and then it was all back to the house for the festivities to start!

Annabel and I eventually turned in about 1:45 in the morning after some serious dancing, beers and the odd Jaeger bomb! Shame it’s all over – but here are some of our all-time favourite shots and their musical slideshow.

I first worked for Paul & Eleanor in 2009 when I photographed their eldest daughter Sophie’s Bat Chayil. A lovely ceremony at Bushey Synagogue was followed by a great party at Bushey Golf & Country Club. And this time we had a similarly wonderful day at Bushey Synagogue for Lilly’s Bat Chayil, topped off by a fantastic party at Radlett Arts Centre. The theatre was transformed into a sea of pink, themed with Lilly’s love of musicals. Tables were adorned with memorabilia from Wicked, Fame, Legally Blonde and We Will Rock You to name a few!

There was great fun at the photobooth, and some fab music videos put up by the DJ. Everything was captured on video with great style by my mate Nicholas. Here are a few of my favourites from what Marta and I captured at the Synagogue and at the party!

It all started about a month ago when we met up for his portrait shoot in north London. The onto the Synagogue rehearsal – accompanied by his very proud Grandparents! Finally, Marta went to get some shots at his family lunch after he’d finished at Synagogue. Then it was party time!

Great photobooth fun with my mates from Fantasy Imaging, music from the ever-brilliant Uptown Events and some awesome drinking fun with vodka shot girls on hand all night on the dancefloor!

My colleagues at Taste Events supplied some outstanding dishes, and the music was top drawer from the accomplished pianist, band-leader and head of music at the Langham – John Watson.

I was only there for a few hours as they were having a small party jsut for Ellie & her firends later in the evening. But I immediately got a very strong sense of what a close family they are and how much fun they were going to have!

When I first met them at their home, and met their gorgeous daughter Ava, we spent most of the time talking about my upcoming trip to Canada and how they shared my love of biking. They advised when out mountain biking to “tuck & roll” if I was about to fall. Fortunately I didnt need to repeat this phrase when I was in the saddle!

And when the wedding day came around, we were blessed with sunshine during the civil ceremony and all through their afternoon reception at Cannizaro House. (Although we had rain during the church ceremony in Clapham it really didnt matter!)

And Cannizaro House was another treat for me as their reception was in the same room where I first Louise, my wife to be – at a friend’s wedding!

I first met Sam when I was at Patti & Matt’s wedding in June last year. I remember we had a great laugh taking silly shots outside at the Belvedere restaurant and chatting about photography! So it was really lovely to have been able to give Sam and his new bride one of our most exciting associate photographers – Marta. She thoroughly loved doing the wedding by herself and got on really well with the guests – a comment that Sam later fed back to me.

Annabel’s photos of Holly & Patrick’s gorgeous day are arguably the finest images from one of the best weddings I’ve ever seen.

high praise, yes. but knowing the Chambers family as I do (I covered Holly’s brother Ben’s wedding to Susannah last year), I had a hunch that Annabel would perfect for them since I was otherwise engaged.

and she was massively helped by such a great collection of friends & family enjoying the ceremony at All Saints Church in Fulham, an extended – if choppy! – riverboat drinks reception, followed by a fantastic evening reception at the Garden Museum in Lambeth Palace Road, with Holly’s Dad giving a very emotional speech – well, he had just seen both his kids get married in less than a year!

So I really had to jump into their lives unannounced for a few hours. Certainly a new experience for me! But fortunately Elena & Grant turned out to be a really lovely couple whose family & friends were very welcoming.

On a beautiful sunny day, the ceremony was short & touching followed by a cab ride to Holland Park where I was able to indulge my love of getting big context shots of the bride & groom. They were great models!

Finally, we headed off to the Roof Gardens venue for a small lunch. Thanks to Eva for booking me and to Elena & Grant for being so lovely on the day!

The Haven is a cool venue and the layout of the room was stunning with really great table decorations, lighting and a fun balloonist all night. The speeches were heartfelt, the dancing frenetic and the bouncing off a bedsheet a real sight to behold!

Starting with a sumptuous ceremony at St James’ Spanish Church in George Street, the fun continued in a bright orange camper van into the gardens of Portman Square for the group shots. Then into the Chartwell Suite at the Hyatt Regency Churchill Hotel for the glorious reception. Fantastic food – Jules and I chatted non-stop as we were seated with Jo & Marcus’ guests on their tables – hysterical speeches and a seriously cute wedding cake kicked off the evening party. Then the main attraction took over in the shape of the Supersonic Band. An awesome party then ripped all night!

The ceremony was held in the Cathedral so unfortunately no ceremony shots were allowed. But after the honour guard, the drinks reception was fun & lively in the gardens next to the Cathedral. So I’ve treasured the great relationship I have with Val & Simon Beresford since their gorgeous wedding day in Sept 2009. We’ve bumped into each other at friends’ weddings, chatted about business especially since Simon set up his successful construction recruitment company, and Val set up Indigo Therapy.

A few weeks ago Val got in touch and asked for some up-to-date headshots which she could use to promote her Reiki therapy, meditation classes and massage treatments. I jumped at the chance and immediately thought that Studio shots may not be right for portraying an image of nature, relaxation and peace. So we headed out around the corner from teh Studio onto the Hampstead Heath extension.

After a few minutes giggling and mucking about working out exactly what she wanted, we got into a groove of getting some lovely shots of Val on the lush warm grass, with the help of some nearby logs and trees!

The last 6 months have had a few stand out highlights for me: the furnishing and opening of our Profoto-equipped Studio; the launch of our new stunning website (thanks Bel!), an amazing workshop with the brilliant David Pullum in February; 8 wonderful weddings; 9 brilliant Bar/Bat mitzvah parties; a sprinkling of private parties and corporate events; Annabel and Gill both smashing through the “2 years with PTP” mark – and now the recruitment of my gorgeous wife Louise as our new Marketing Manager!

In terms of marketing the PTP brand, we’ve launched a collection of dedicated pages on Facebook so everyone can find just what they’re looking for: weddings; bar mitzvahs; bat mitzvahs; private parties; corporate events; families & kids. This was on the back of a really successful cheeky DPS ad in the Jewish press thanking our clients for 2010!

Looking forward to the next 6 months: we’ll soon be launching PTP “Petits” (French for little ones, y’know) – a professional hair styling, makeover and Studio photoshoot party service for girls aged 8-16. We’re also looking into offering a natural outdoor + Studio portrait service for Actors (guess the name? PTP Theatrical – had to be) And finally in time for next Summer, we’ll be putting tons of energy into launching PTP Proms – an exclusive pre-Prom fashion shoot in the Studio + on-the-night party photography for local schools’ Prom parties. We’ve also got our new blog to make live, another 16 Bar/Bat mitzvah parties, a further 12 weddings and a few more private parties to fit in!

This was a very special party – organised by Bert at Uptown Events who also happened to be Jo’s cousin! Gorgeous colours flooded through the marquee all night, and everyone was up for a major sess of dancing, eating, more dancing, crazy photos in the booth and Hello! front covers, and then some more dancing!

Marta and I came away from the party feeling that we had experienced something really special – a special event for a special girl and her special family!

Since we were meeting at St Pancras – a station they love to meet & eat at – I’d had the idea of re-creating one of those teen magazine love story photo strips. “When & where did their eyes first meet? Over a coffee cup, Andrew walked into Jamie’s life. and then up the stairs to a train bound for Paris. But the mood from the lovers’ statue persuaded them to start their romance there and then, and on outside to Russell Square.”

Jo & Marcus were decked out from head to foot in funky colourful wetsuits and were hitting the waters of Princes Club’s main wakeboarding lake. I did my best to get as close as I could without falling in (pretty typical for me!). And we managed to get some romantic shots too as their suits dried in the misty sun of the afternoon.

And after having had such a great time down by the river for their engagement shoot with Jules, the team was together again for the big day. Highlights were definitely a shiny red London bus, instant photo gifts for the Mum’s, and Clare’s Dad tripping the light fantastic on the dancefloor!

Kate and I re-scheduled their engagement shoot to Monday – and we were blessed with all things Spring-like! They only returned home to Clapham that morning after living out in Teddington while the builders were in, so it was lovely to meet the whole family back in their own patch. And we trotted off to Clapham Common for a quick snappy shoot, armed with lots of Jaffa Cakes to keep Morgane, Sophie and Harry happy and – occasionally – distracted!

I’m particularly excited about their wedding on April 16th – the venue is a first for me, it’s the day before my birthday, and I’ll be welcoming Laura to my team having photographed her wedding in June 2009 and “inspired” her to get into photography as a result!

In terms of selecting my favourites to show here, I really had to choose carefully. Normally I don’t get very near the actual ceremony part of the Bat mitzvah celebration, just the party. But this time the Clarke family asked me to cover the ceremony service beforehand and I loved working hard to capture the emotion of the occasion in what is a lovely building. So last weekend I was really excited to meet up with them for their e-shoot. Although the recent sunny weather had deserted us, we had more pressing things to think about – namely avoiding the TUC demo in central London! A few frantic texts later and we agreed to meet in Regent’s Park far away from the mayhem. Leah was looking sunny and gorgeous in a floral dress with a bunch of her favourite flowers, and they were both understandably a little nervous at first. But really soon we were all having a good laugh, trying not to embarrass Shane about posing whilst admiring Leah’s love of the camera!

We’ll be seeing each other again at their wedding in the middle of May – can’t wait! Here are a few of my favourite pics and their chosen music video.

He spoke to a specially invited audience of Investec’s clients & staff regarding the 2011 Budget given the day before. It was an interesting discussion ranging from Budget specifics to wider issues such as the Middle East, Japan and the economic fragility of some of the Eurozone countries (Portugal’s PM had resigned earlier that morning). Mr Portillo was joined on the stage by Phillip Shaw, Investec’s Chief Economist. The event finished with a drinks reception in the main atrium area.

The event – like the last one I covered at which Karen Brady spoke – was organised perfectly by my wonderful client Jenny Papple. Here are a few pics of the event.

Although I hadn’t photographed Albie before, we immediately clicked and had a great time mucking around with his mates during the drinks reception, with some wicked magic from Joe Morrell. Then it was onto a classic party MC’d by Bradley from Uptown Events, with fantastic food from Andrew Kaye. All night long everyone was either on the dancefloor, or up on the chairs singing along!

The finishing touch was of course Alexandra, or Ally to her family and friends. From our “getting to know you” shoot in January, I knew that Ally was the most enigmatic, photogenic girl I had ever photographed. So covering her party was going to be easy as she knew how to be photographed, as well as knowing my style and how I liked to cover her.

To have 2 photographers doing an engagement shoot was a first for PTP. It’s great to be able to have our photography style & service available to more than one couple on a given weekend – but only after everyone on the team has done these types of shoots with me first. That way, all our clients will get the same consistent quality of service and images – whether it’s me, Annabel, Jules, Marta or Sandra.

Clare & Anthony are a really lovely couple, and we had a good few laughs on the shoot. In particular, image 8 means a lot to them. The black & white boat in the background is where they met, on a blind date dinner party. This kind of detail is so important for us! Everything’s organised, as well as a few surprises on the day! They are in fantastic hands with Jules & Marta, and at Nonsuch Mansion they have a fabulous venue and a great function team. I know the day will be so memorable for everyone!

So it was not only a real pleasure but also intriguing to see Ria’s talents at work. From an open rehearsal room at the Jerwood Space near the Old Vic, to the atmospheric lighting for the set in the small Finborough Theatre, a small room above a pub in Earl’s Court.

Susannah looked simply stunning in her elegant wedding dress, matched by her bridesmaids resplendent in royal blue. For his part, Ben looked every inch the English gent in his 3-piece suit. The setting was capped off with teal lights and candles for the ceremony room, a B&W-only photobooth and a magnificent wedding cake tastefully placed with the enormous Christmas tree giving it its own backdrop.

The music was unique, the speeches hysterical, the food superb, and the photo slideshow in the evening was connected to the huge screen behind the band’s stage – very grand!

Richard and I have discussed the workshop topic and I’m thrilled to say that Richard’s award-winning skills will now be focussed on COMPOSITION.

Although Richard is renowned for his super efficiency at workflow management, one could argue that it’s not a topic unique to anyone. BUT Composition is – check out Richard’s stunning work on his wedding blog, and I know you’ll be as excited as me that this topic is now what we will all benefit from on Jan 27th!

am very excited to launch the 2011 season of PTP Photographers’ workshops, happening in and around our new Studio office. And what better way to kick off the season than an awesome day dedicated to cutting-edge workflow efficiency, from award-winning photographer Richard Esposito.

I met Richard almost 2 years ago at WPPI in Las Vegas. Apart from a breath-takingly stunning photographic creative style, his background as a video producer and editor has enabled him to champion and excel at the much-talked about cross-over or “fusion” of stills + video. And he’s excited to be able to help other photographers outside of the USA through his workshop programme – more details here.

We’re very excited to be able to host his first UK workshop here at PTP! On a strictly first-come, first-served basis, we will be restricting the workshop to 20 people @ £75 per person. This includes a whole day with Richard, lunch, all-day refreshments and stunning surroundings.

On Sunday night, in spite of the freezing weather outside, everyone was ready for hotting up on the dancefloor at the party!

Gilgamesh’s wonderfully warm decor created a really special atmoshphere, supported with huge energy by Dan Hilton’s team, and everything was captured with precison by Gavin.

It was a truly memorable night – I know everyone enjoyed it as much as I did taking these shots!

Everyone had a non-stop glamorous night at the Adam’s truly majestic venue, with a sure-fire answer to those cold autumn nights with fabulous food, funky dancers, rocking music and an impromptu adaptation of Cabaret!

I had such a fun time, as Adam is one of those guys who loves being in front of the camera, but isn’t full of himself with it. Level-headed, cool and with loads of friends, he’s a really great guy and we had a good laugh when doing his portrait shoot last month. And he was superbly confident and clear at his synagogue rehearsal. Not forgetting those bowls of chips at the family lunch, after his wonderful performance at Shul on Saturday morning.

All in all, I’ve loved being with Debra and Anthony, and their family & friends, throughout the whole build-up, and on the night. What a family! Here are a few pics from the party, and Adam’s musical diary.

It’s been exciting and slightly surreal to see the PTP brand move originally from outside my son’s bedroom, to our spare room, to a posh shed at the end of the garden to a 1200sq ft business unit.

But we are now a few days away from really getting in there and taking PTP to the next level. Not only will the team be based there – for all office, editing and comm’s purposes. But we have also designed a quarter of the space to act as a funky (and slightly camp if I’m honest!) viewing area for clients – complete with lush curtains, ceiling-mounted Optoma projector, genuine Chesterfield sofa and chairs, and a make-your-own popcorn machine!

This area will also double as a fully-functioning photographic studio for us, and for local photographers to hire. Proper studio lights, Internet, editing capabilities will all be charged out. And we hope to offer PTP Studios as a more cost-effective alternative to others, such as Spring.

So what next? Well – the launch party of course! On Thursday 25th November, there’ll be approx 50-60 clients, suppliers, industry guests as well as a few family & friends coming for the evening to help launch the next phase of PTP with a bang. Music will be from Max Robinson, and from Andre Brown, the evening will be catered by Melanies, and no-one will go home empty-handed as everyone will leave with a PTP-branded goody bag!

I’ve put a few pics up so you can see the office taking shape. And I’ll keep putting more shots up over the next few weeks.

I really loved the venue – my first job there – and knew the party would go well as Adam & James were running the show. I bumped into at least 6 other client families, and finally got the details of Ilan the Robotic Man – who did a great job in keeping the kids entertained! At the end I was so buzzing it was hardly worth going to bed as I head to be up early for my flight out of the UK.

A sunny day allowed me to get the whole family – resplendent in jeans and white tops! – outside Suzanne & Roy’s gorgeous home in Ingatestone. From Grandma Pauline down to the youngest of the babies – Sophia at 4months – I was lucky enough to get some cracking generational shots – my favourite! So important to get these shots: the mantelpieces will now have some real treasured photos for years to come. We also rushed around the garden taking some more relaxed shots, hung out in Roy’s gym with his authentic end-of-the-pier games, watched Matthew play the piano, and finished with some bubbly in the kitchen. What a lovely way to spend 2hours!

But at the engagement shoot their true personalities shone – they both loved it – as did I ! And their wedding day was a continuation of their journey together – a gorgeous sunny ceremony in Turnham Green (we won’t mention that my car was towed away during it!), splendid food & drink at the funky Moran, finished off with a true clubbing session back where we started. Marta and I had the best time and can only thank Hannah & Dougie for asking us to share such an awesome day with them, their friends and family – and the cupcakes!
